    Guanajuato es una ciudad mexicana, capital del estado del mismo nombre, está en el centro norte de México y su población asciende a 171.709 habitantes. Fue declarada como Patrimonio de la Humanidad en el año 1988 por los valores históricos que mantiene. En este artículo se realiza un análisis de la situación actual de la ciudad, del valor o problemas que le ha aportado en estos años ser declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad, de los retos actuales a los que se enfrenta en un mundo globalizado y de las posibles cuestiones diferenciadoras que se pueden poner en valor con respecto a otras ciudades patrimonio de la humanidad. Uno de estos valores que se deben destacar es la apuesta por la accesibilidad, la diversidad y la ciudad inteligente. Destacar la dificultad que fundamentalmente tienen estas ciudades en la conservación y rehabilitación de su patrimonio, así como en la conservación de la trama urbana y de los edificios que la componen. Sin olvidar y evaluar cómo está afrontando Guanajuato este reto, estas dificultades y sobre todo, esta oportunidad que se abre como posicionamiento estratégico y reclamo turístico futuro teniendo como base la igualdad de oportunidades y la inclusión.

    Guanajuato is a Mexican city, capital of the state of the same name, in the north central part of Mexico and its population amounts to 171.709 inhabitants. It was declared a World Heritage Site in 1988 by the historical values it maintains. This article analyzes the current situation of the city, the value or problems that it has contributed in these years to be declared a World Heritage Site, the current challenges it faces in a globalized world and the possible Differentiating issues that can be put in value with respect to other cities world heritage. It is important to emphasize that one of these values that must be highlighted is the commitment to accessibility, diversity and the intelligent city. To emphasize the difficulty that these cities fundamentally have in the conservation and rehabilitation of their patrimony, as well as in the conservation of the urban plot and the buildings that compose it. Without forgetting and evaluating how this challenge is facing Guanajuato, these difficulties and, above all, this opportunity that opens as a strategic positioning and future tourism claim based on equal opportunities and inclusion.
