    En este artículo se analiza la representación social del futuro que comparten las integrantes de la Red de Género y Medio Ambiente (Rgema) en México. Se recabó información por medio de entrevistas a profundidad y análisis de documentos producidos dentro de la Red. La intención es reflexionar en torno a su visión de futuro, en la medida en que, al ser personas que tienen más información sobre la situación medioambiental y de género en el país, podrían tener una visión más pesimista y catastrófica del futuro; por el contrario, tienden al optimismo, al compromiso social y a la acción transformadora. Se encontraron seis tópicos de la representación: supervivencia, apuesta por lo local, apuesta por el presente, futuro imaginado como futuro lejano, tensión entre optimismo y desesperanza, y rechazo a la “ecología del miedo”.

    In this article, we analyze the social representation of the future shared by members of the Gender and Environmental Network (Red de Género y Medio Ambiente) in Mexico. Information was collected through in-depth interviews and analysis of documents produced in the Network. The intention is to reflect on their vision of the future to the extent that, as persons having more information on the environmental and gender situation of the country, they might be expected to have a more negative and catastrophic view of the future. On the contrary, they tend toward optimism, social commitment and transformative action. We found six topics on the social representation of the future: survival, local commitment, choice of the present; a future imagined far off, tension between optimism and hopelessness, and rejection of the “ecology of fear.”
