Resumen de Migrantes y retirantes en la pintura brasileña, 1900-1950

Este trabajo estudia la figura del retirante nordestino del Brasil, que emigra preferentemente hacia São Paulo durante la primera mitad del siglo XX, tratado en la pintura de dos artistas brasileños: Cícero Dias y Cândido Portirani. Establecemos las conexiones de ambos pintores con artistas españoles como Pablo Picasso o Salvador Dalí, así como la influencia que el arte español pudo ejercer sobre ellos de forma directa o indirecta, visitando el Museo Nacional del Prado y específicamente la obra de Francisco de Goya. Esta amalgama de expe-riencias desembocaría en la creación de una iconografía particular del retirante a través del lenguaje simbólico creado por cada uno de los pintores. Completamos el estudio con la presencia del retirante en la literatura brasi-leña, que refuerza el cruce constante entre la imagen visual y la literaria.

This work studies through art the figure of the Northeastern retirante of Brazil, emigrated preferably towards São Paulo during the first half of the twentieth century, who was treated in the painting of two Brazilian artists: Cicero Dias and Cândido Portirani. We establish the connections of both painters with Spanish artists such as Pablo Picasso or Salvador Dalí, as well as the influence that Spanish art could exert on them directly or indirectly, visiting the Spanish National Museum of El Prado and specifically the work of Francisco de Goya. This amalgam of experiences would lead to the creation of a particular iconography of the retirante through the symbolic language created by each one of the painters of this essay. We completed the study with the presence of the retirante in the Brazilian literature, which reinforces the constant crossing between visual arts and literature.
