The present work posits a brief analysis on the theories related to value and its consequent historical transformations through the evolution of the capitalist productive model and the configuration of a consumer society. This is done to elucidate the epistemological fragmentation within the social sciences in order to resurrect a critical exposition of the subjective theory of value interrelated with concepts of political theory, history and sociology. This will push forward the holistic value of social analysis as a single theoretical corpus of social science, one that can offer a more accurate approximation to social reality, as well as the emancipatory capacity of critical analysis.
