Resumen de As linguas e as identidades: o papel do profesorado de Ciencias Sociais nas sociedades plurilingües

  No tempo da globalización, o papel do profesorado no vínculo (inevitábel) entre educación, linguas e identidades é fundamental. Desde as Ciencias Sociais, tanto no eido da investigación como especialmente no propio ensino, faise necesaria a elaboración dunha postura coherente e consciente arredor do lugar que deben ocupar as linguas nas aulas das sociedades plurilingües. A sociolingüística é a disciplina en base á cal podemos comezar a elaborar esa proposta, e en Galiza existen xa importantes traballos que nos poden ser útiles nos primeiros momentos. Porén, debemos ir máis alá para colaborarmos desde a nosa formación social á comprensión dunha realidade lingüística e identitaria que incide na formación integral das crianzas, e que está fortemente vinculada á Historia, a Xeografía ou a Arte. Para os docentes de Ciencias Sociais nunha sociedade cunha lingua minorada, cuxos falantes son por defecto vítimas do estigma, propóñense unhas liñas de actuación éticas: o uso responsábel da lingua en todos os ámbitos para a súa dignificación ante o alumnado, a introdución de temas lingüísticos dentro dos temarios de materias sociais e a defensa dos valores do ecolingüismo, da diversidade e o respecto pola diferenza.

  In the time of globalization, the role of teachers within the (inevitable) link among education, languages and identities is essential. In the realm of the Social Sciences, both in research and especially in teaching itself, it is necessary to elaborate a coherent and conscious stance about the place that languages must occupy in multilingual societies. Sociolinguistics is the main discipline we can look to in order to begin this essay, and in Galiza there already are interesting works about it. However, we must transcend these and, drawing on our social training, contribute to the understanding of the identitary and linguistic reality which has an impact on the integral education of children, and which is also linked to History, Geography and Arts. For Social Studies teachers in a society with a minoritised language, whose speakers are victims of stigma, we propose an ethical course of action: the responsible use of the native language in every context in order to dignify it among the students, the introduction of languages in the social studies syllabus, and the defense of ecolinguistic values, diversity and respect for difference.
