    The province of the Wendland in which Gorleben is located, is well-known in Germany because of the anti-nuclear movement.

    Therefore, the Wendland functions as a rural territory of political-democratic reflection. Walter Mossmann’s Lied vom Lebensvogel tells the story of political events in the Wendland at the end of the 1970’s from the perspective of the resistance movement.

    Elements of the ballad as a literary form play a special role in the narrative style. The musical composition of Mossmann’s Lied vom Lebensvogel punctuates the literary form of the ballad. Hence, this political ballad is an intermedia expression and itself an agent of the resistance movement

    Die Provinz des Wendlands, in der der Ort Gorleben liegt, ist deutschlandweit bekannt durch die Anti-Atomkraft-Bewegung. Das Wendland wurde durch diese Widerstandsbewegung zum politisch-demokratischen Reflexionsraum. Walter Mossmanns Lied vom Lebensvogel erzählt aus der Perspektive des Widerstands über die Geschehnisse Ende der 1970er Jahre im Wendland. Dabei spielen Elemente der literarischen Form der Ballade für die Erzählweise eine besondere Rolle, die von der musikalischen Gestaltung des Liedes untermalt wird. Das politische Lied ist in diesem Fall als intermediale Ausdrucksform selbst Agens des Widerstands.
