  • Resumen
    • The seismic images of the Le Danois bank's slope-base of slope allow to observe an olistostrome-forming process that can be summarised as follows: a) This process is significantly active during compressional tectonic phases, when the allochthonous material can move 40 km away from the base of slope, b) It forms by gliding of the hangingwall blocks of numerous slope-parallel faults, c) The volume of the allochthonous sediments is always three times greater than the autochthonous ones, d) There is continuity between the slope and the allochthonous wedges deposited on the basin plain, e) The more external, younger thrusts of the compressional front deform the allochthonous and autochthonous complex. The resultant model is used as an analogue for the Betie Cordillera's olistostrome and allows to show the probable similarities between them (slope-depositional trough, basal shear and geological complexity) as well as the still to be resolved problems (simple or multi-episodic propagation mechanism, compresssional or mixed and the palaeogeographic domains included in this olistostromie mass).
