El Estado como vértice del cuidado para personas mayores: discursos y acciones de los y las trabajadoras del Programa Centros de Día de Ciudad de Buenos Aires

    En este artículo se planteó indagar y analizar las prácticas, concepciones de cuidado y los roles de género hacia las personas mayores en los discursos de los/as trabajadores/as del Programa Centros de Día del Gobierno de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (GCBA). Se utilizó una metodología cualitativa, basada en dos fuentes. Por un lado, a partir de fuentes secundarias se obtuvieron datos aportados por el Programa sobre características de los Centros y cantidad de trabajadores. Por el otro se realizaron entrevistas en profundidad a diez trabajadores y trabajadoras del Programa en diferentes Centros de la Ciudad. Las dimensiones analizadas fueron: características de los Centros, tareas que realizan, concepciones de cuidado. Las conclusiones mostraron que los Centros actúan como dispositivos de cuidados en el que se entrecruzan discursos y prácticas en consenso y conflicto permanente.

    Asimismo, permitieron detectar que las tareas de los y las trabajadoras son consideradas como un trabajo emocional en el que media el cuidado del otro como práctica primordial.

    In the following article it was proposed to investigate and analyze the practices, care conceptions and roles towards the elderly in the speeches of the Day Center Program workers of the Government in the Buenos Aires city (GCBA). A qualitative methodology was used, based on two sources. On the one hand, from secondary sources, data provided by the program on the characteristics of the centers and the number of workers were obtained.

    On the other hand, in-depth interviews were carried out with ten workers of the program in different Centers of the city. The dimensions analyzed were: centers characteristics, tasks performed and care conceptions. Conclusions showed that the Centers act as care devices in which discourses and practices are interwoven in consensus and permanent conflict. They also allowed detecting that the workers tasks are considered as an emotional work in which mediates the care of the other as a primordial practice.
