  • Results of U/Th dating of travertine have led to differentiate two depositional generations in the Tabernas basin,attributed respectively to late Pleistocene and Holocene. There is an erosional stage betweenthese periods, which is associated to the incision of the fluvial network. Those travertine deposits are of hydrothermal origin. Their subsequent erosion is related to an intense and generalized erosive morphogenesis from Holocene onwards, which involved a climate change towards increasing aridity and rainfall intensity
