    En su primer largometraje Maborosi, el laureado director Kore-eda Hirokazu (1962) logra hacer una refinada “danza” con la singular novela corta (“la novela”) Maborosi no hikari (Luces fantasmas) de Miyamoto Teru, publicada en 1979 por Shinchō publishers, y posteriormente traducida al inglés por Roger K Thomas (en la colección Phantom Lights and Other Stories, Kurodahan Press, 2011).

    In his first feature film, award-winning director Kore-eda Hirokazu (b. 1962) performs an elaborate “dance” with the original short story/ novellaMaborosi no hikari (Phantom Lights) by Miya-moto Teru, first published in 1979 by Shinchōpublishers and in English translation by Roger K. Thomas (as Phantom Lights and Other Stories, Kurodahan Press, 2011). The intimacy with which the protagonist narrates in the novel and the evocative power of Kore-eda’s mise-en-scène comple-ment each other so that they seem mutual reflections
