Since EFL teachers can be involved in language testing from very early in their careers, pre-service training courses often include a language-testing component. The challenge for trainers is to integrate this complex content subject into the wider course, and help trainees acquire the confidence to continue to learn about it afterwards. This article describes the language-testing component of a pre-service training course at a British university. It outlines the activities used, and shows how they enable the teacher to address target content. It also explains how the procedures form part of a wider approach to teacher education.
