  Este artículo discute dos proyectos de investigación relacionados con Takesi Sibata y Willem A. The LAJisJapan’s first nationwidelinguistic atlas created on the basis ofa linguistic geographical survey.Sibata and Grootaers were pivotal totheproject.This paper focuses on severalconcepts and perspectivesthat were utilized for theseprojects:contact, network, people,and geographical space. These aspects wereessential to the advancement of these researchinitiativesandare closely linked to their common spirit oflinguistic studies.
