This work presents a contribution to the question of how to develop data processing (both technically & statistically) in perceptual dialectology (PD) studies. This discipline focuses on the study of non-linguists perceptions of dialectal variation. Such tasks require a large amount of information whose treatment can be improved if suitable tools from Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for the treatment of geographic information are combined with powerful statistical data analysis methods.
