Resumen de Comunicación y cultura contemporánea: una narrativa televisiva de la construcción social de símbolos de identidad en Palmas-Tocantis -Brasil

Un concurso promovido por la Organización Jaime Cámara (filial de la Red Globo en el Estado de Tocantins-Brasil) elige la Plaza de los Girasoles como símbolo de la capital tocantina, Palmas, siendo ese nuestro punto de partida. Mientras tanto, la finalidad es revisitar el pasado, o sea, el artículo plantea como se dio el proceso de creación del Estado de Tocantins, la construcción de su capital y de los símbolos político-identitarios en el Estado de Tocantins. Parte del presupuesto de que hubo acciones de agentes, instituciones y actores sociales que promovieron discursos legitimadores de estos símbolos. Por ser la Plaza de los Girasoles el símbolo elegido, presentamos como ese espacio se convirtió una síntesis del discurso autonomista de Tocantins, de su historia oficial, construida para ser un lugar de memoria y de poder. Apunta la participación de los medios de comunicación en masa en este proceso.

A contest promoted by the Jaime Cámara Organization (branch of the Globo Network in the State of Tocantins-Brazil) chooses the Plaza de los Girasoles as a symbol of the capital of Tocantins, Palmas, which is our starting point. Meanwhile, the purpose is to revisit the past, that is, the article problematizes how the process of creation of the State of Tocantins, the construction of its capital and the political-identity symbols in the State of Tocantins took place. Part of the budget was that there were actions by agents, institutions and social actors that promoted discourses legitimating these symbols. Because the Plaza de los Girasoles is the chosen symbol, we present how this space became a synthesis of the autonomous discourse of Tocantins, its official history, built to be a place of memory and power. It points out the participation of mass media in this process.
