The work presented here is based on one of the strategic lines proposed by the Vice Chancellor of the Smart-Campus (VSC) of the University of Malaga (UMA), specifically within the line “Nature and environment” with the project called “Islands and Green Routes” (IGR). The main objective of the project is, through the work of a multidisciplinary team, to develop a space for leisure, recreation, rest, and outdoor study that is sensorized and sustainable, meeting the requirements of users and making these areas the focus of great social activity. The aim of the present work is to design urban furniture that will be located in the outer area of the School of Computing and the School of Telecommunication of the UMA. The methodology will follow the phases of the design and development of products, beginning with research on markets and competition, establishing user requirements regarding the product, development and discussion of the idea and, finally, the definitive proposal through a detailed technical design where the product is completely defined in terms of form, functionality, materials and mechanical strength. The results of the project reveal the development of a virtual prototype that meets the established specifications, obtaining 1st prize in the 2nd edition of the Islands and Green Routes contest.
