  • Resumen
    • This article takes the form of a comparative study of Rabelais and Folengo and places the emphasis on the fundamental importance of food in the narrative strategies of both authors, who link this topic to the very act of writing. Metaphorically speaking, the theme of food reproduces literary activity in general – the writing of the text, the reading of the text, and the actual text itself – conferring a concrete dimension to literary exchange. Furthermore, it is important to notice on the one hand the ambivalent lexicon of food acts as an impetus for textual plenitude; on the other hand, it evokes an obsessive fear of emptiness and gratuity in literary creation in the works of both Rabelais and Folengo. Far from trying to ascertain that Folengo serves as a model for Rabelais, this research will analyse the similarities on the topic of food in the work of both authors.
