Un amor profano en tiempos de sujeción patriarca: La ilegalidad de los sentimientos y sus consecuencias

    En este trabajo nos proponemos analizar el rol de la mujer en la sociedad patriarcal representado en la película “Camila”. Este film se basa en una historia de amor prohibido, evocando la intolerancia y abuso de poder durante la dictadura de Juan Manuel de Rosas (1829-1852).

    Nuestro objetivo es interpretar el rol de la mujer sumida bajo las normas socialmente aceptadas y arraigadas históricamente en el sistema patriarcal. La protagonista, Camila O‟Gorman, es una señorita perteneciente a una de las familias más influyentes de la sociedad porteña, con un espíritu fuerte que no le importó desafiar el sistema rompiendo las reglas establecidas por su padre, la iglesia y hasta al mismo estado al enamorarse profundamente de un sacerdote jesuita, Ladislao Gutiérrez, quien le corresponde su amor. Ambos tomaron la decisión de vivir ese amor sin importar las consecuencias,cambiando su identidad huyendo lejos de la ciudad hacia el campo, “Goya “ un pueblo rural de la provincia de Corrientes.

    Sin embargo, ni el poder aristocrático patriarcal, representado por el padre de Camila, ni el poder eclesiástico al que pertenecía Ladislao y el estado en manos del restaurador de las leyes Juan M. de Rosas, dejaron pasar por alto la huida de los enamorados. La historia concluye trágicamente, se los condenó a muerte por traición y rebeldía. Esa intolerancia que prevalece en el contexto que recrea la película, es significativa en el momento de su producción, cuando al restaurarse la democracia en Argentina se exhortaba a la defensa de los Derechos Humanos, ampliamente vulnerados durante la última dictadura militar.I

    In this paper, we propose to analyze the role of women in the patriarchal society represented in the film "Camila". This film is based on a history of forbidden love, evoking intolerance and abuse of power during the dictatorship of Juan Manuel de Rosas (1829-1852).

    Our objective is to interpret the role of the woman submerged under the socially accepted norms and historically rooted in the patriarchal system. The protagonist, Camila O'Gorman, is a young lady belonging to one of the most influential families of Buenos Aires society, with a strong spirit that did not mind challenging the system breaking the rules established by her father, the church and even the state byfalling deeply in love with a Jesuit priest, Ladislao Gutiérrez, who owes his love. Both made the decision to live that love regardless of the consequences, changing their identity fleeing away from the city to the countryside, "Goya" a rural town in the province of Corrientes.

    However, neither the patriarchal aristocratic power, represented by Camila's father, nor the ecclesiastical power to which Ladislao belonged and the state in the hands of the restorer of the Juan M. de Rosas laws, allowed the flight of the lovers to be overlooked. The story tragically concludes, they were sentenced to death for treason and rebellion. That intolerance that prevails in the context that recreates the film is significant at the time of its production, when the restoration of democracy in Argentina called for the defense of human rights, widely violated during the last military dictatorship
