El objetivo de mi contribución es mostrar cómo los recuerdos son el producto de una confluencia entre diferentes temporalidades (pasado, presente y futuro) en la memoria. A través del análisisde una historia de vida, la de Virginia Martínez del Castillo, una mujer nacida en Bilbao en 1914,quiero mostrar cómo determinados rasgos de identificación de la mujer moderna de los años veinte,en concreto su proyección hacia el futuro y el cambio, van a facilitar su conexión emocional conlos nuevos horizontes de realización que se abren en los años sesenta en torno al modelo de mujerliberada. La interrelación entre las experiencias pasadas, a menudo frustradas cuando era joven, ylas nuevas posibilidades abiertas por el futuro en los sesenta, contribuye a la recreación de un pasadoque se mantiene abierto en su memoria.

The aim of my contribution is to show how memories are the outcome of an incessant confluence between different temporalities (past, present and future) in memory. The life story of Virginia Martínez del Castillo, a modern woman born in Bilbao in 1914, allows us to analyze how certain characteristics of the modern woman of the twenties —especially her projection towards the future and her confidence in change and in progress— will facilitate her emotional connection with feminism in the sixties and with the model of liberated women. In the case of Virginia Martínez, the interrelation between past experiences, often frustrated when she was young, in the twenties and thirties, and the new possibilities opened by the future in the sixties contribute to recreate and re-signify the past, which remains open in her memory.
