    Aunque los EE.UU. son y serán todavía durante unas décadas la primera potencia mundial ya se puede anticipar que durante el siglo XXI van a perder esa posición de preeminencia. Las grandes transformaciones económicas e ideológicas que está experimentando el escenario mundial afectan también al sistema de relaciones internacionales, y dan un vigor renovado al paradigm a neorrealista, con el que parece encontrarse especialmente cómoda la gran potencia emergente, China. En este proceso el mundo es cada vez más multipolar, lo que no implica necesariamente que sea más seguro.

    The United States are still the first world superpower, and they will keep this position for a while; but we can already forecast that they are going to lose that preeminent place along the 21th century. The huge economical and political changes that the world is currently going trough are tra nsforming as well the International Relations system, and giving new strength to the old fashioned neo realist paradigm, which the new emerging superpower, China, seems to feel particularly comfortable with. In this process the world is becoming increasing ly multipolar, what does not necessarily mean safer.
