Entre ambos existe una relación, que se apoya en el nexo aragonés del pintor, nacido en Fuendetodos, y de la jota, vinculada a Aragón, una convivencia que podría remontarse a la vida de Goya, pero que se muestra y desarrolla a partir de mediados del siglo XIX. Esta confluencia se manifiesta profusamente en la jota como vehículo de expresión popular para exaltar al artista.

Francisco de Goya has been a remarkably powerful stimulus for creators of a diversity of art and cultural disciplines in the fields of music and performing arts, literature or audiovisual media. The jota, with a wide dissemination, has also served as inspiration in similar contexts. The relationship between the distinguished Aragonese painter and the jota is inextricably linked to his hometown, Fuendetodos, in Aragón, whose popular music par excellence is the jota. This bond could be rooted in Goya’s life, but it is shown and built since the middle of the XIX century. This convergence reveals itself profusely in the jota as vehicle of popular expression often used to praise the painter.
