A geochemical exploration program was carried out to determine gol dplacers and prima y mineralizations in the Aritzakun area (Maya de Baztán, Navarra, Spain). Three sampling media were used in this study: (1) rock fragments; (2} stream sediment; and (3) soil. Chemical analyses were statiscally managed in arder to obtain areal distribution of anomalies, as well as far determining interelement correlations. The main resulos obtained are the location of various soil (in the A 1 horizon gold-bearing and panning anomalies, and the discovery of gold earing rocks. The observed morphological features and composition of gold grains found suggest that gold has suffer a very short transport from the primary sources, which are constituted by gossans related to quartz vein mineralizations.
