La familia, la escuela y el grupo de iguales son los agentes de socialización fundamentales en la educación y formación de los individuos a la hora de reforzar la diferenciación de género. Los medios de comunicación de masas, aunque no tengan el objetivo explícito de socializar, también sugieren, proponen y trascriben valores, ideales y modelos a seguir de hombres y mujeres, con lo cual, participan del proceso de socialización de género con el añadido de tener el poder de llegar a todos los demás agentes e influir sobre sus actuaciones. En este contexto abrimos un espacio de reflexión acerca de la necesidad de una educación trasversal para combatir los estereotipos de género impuestos por la sociedad, transmitidos por los agentes y reforzados por los mass media.
Family, school and peers groups are the fundamental agents of socialization in education and formation of the individuals in order to strengthen the gender differentiation. The mass media, even without a clear aim of socialize, also suggest, propose and reproduce values, ideals and models to follow of men and women, whereby participate of the process of gender socialization with the value-added of his capacity of reaching all the other agents and have influence on their acts. In this context, we open a space of reflect on the necessity of a transverse education to fight the gender stereotypes imposed by society, transmitted by the agents and reinforced by the mass media.
