Resumen de Sostituire, condividere, costruire: le parrocchie ortodosse romene nel tortuoso cammino del riconoscimento

Ioan Cozma, Mariachiara Giorda

  • Replacing, Sharing, Building : Romanian Orthodox Parishes on the Tortuous Path to Recognition · This paper tackles the dynamics of the transition, adaptation, and integration of religious minorities in Italy in the context of the new religious super-diversity challenges, focusing in particular on the case of the Romanian Orthodox community. In just a few decades, this community shifted from an immigrant and guest religion seeking worship places to a more consolidated and organized entity. It has been settling its presence and diffusing gradually in Italy in terms of materiality and space. The sample of parishes analysed is presented in chronological order (from the first parish until today) and has been chosen based on the availability of the sources and the social, religious, and political factors involved in the settlement of these parishes in Italy. The present study is motivated by determining whether the multitude of places of worship and the dynamics involved in their creation could possibly trigger the legal recognition that Romanian Orthodoxy deserves within the Italian public space.
