    Las exigencias competitivas actuales del fútbol demandan a los futbolistas iniciar las prácticas sistemáticas desde edades tempranas. Esto incrementa el riesgo de sufrir lesiones deportivas, con implicaciones desde el punto de vista físico, psicológico y sociológico. En este contexto se desarrolla la presente investigación con el objetivo de caracterizar las lesiones ocurridas en los futbolistas escolares de la provincia Las Tunas, Cuba. Se realizó un estudio transeccional descriptivo retrospectivo de naturaleza cualitativa y cuantitativa. Mediante la revisión de documentos se analizaron la totalidad de las lesiones registradas en la muestra de futbolistas de ambos sexos pertenecientes a la Escuela de Iniciación Deportiva (EIDE) Carlos Leyva González, durante el período septiembre 2016-julio del 2017. Se encontró una alta incidencia de lesiones, entre ellas las más frecuentes fueron de origen microtraumático, con predominio de las tendinosas sobre todo a nivel rodillas

    The current competitive demands of football demand that players start systematic practices from an early age. This increases the risk of suffering sports injuries, with implications from the physical, psychological and sociological point of view. In this context, the present investigation is carried out with the objective of characterizing the injuries that occurred in school soccer players in Las Tunas province, Cuba. A retrospective descriptive transectional study of a qualitative and quantitative nature was carried out. Through the review of documents, all the injuries registered in the sample of soccer players of both sexes belonging to the School of Sports Initiation (EIDE) Carlos Leyva González, were analyzed during the period September 2016-July 2017. A high incidence was found of injuries, among them the most frequent ones were of microtraumatic origin, with predominance of the tendinous ones mainly at the knees.
