Resumen de El recambio valvular. Un proceso que no sólo modifica el corazón

  Las enfermedades cardiovasculares, sus tratamientos, los ingresos hospitalarios y los procesos quirúrgicos asociados, pueden ser origen de ansiedad y miedo en las personas que lo sufren; al corazón se le otorga un valor superior por ser el motor que hace funcionar el cuerpo y la mente. Por otro lado la información que se proporciona al paciente y su familia es de carácter técnico sobre el procedimiento, pero no se informa sobre respuestas emocionales positivas o negativas que pueden surgir con el fin de que tanto el paciente como su contexto familiar las conozcan y puedan adaptarse lo mejor posible, a la nueva situación de salud de una enfermedad cardiovascular. Se presenta una investigación cualitativa descriptiva, concretamente, el relato biográfico de una persona que ha sufrido un recambio valvular debido a una estenosis aórtica. El relato muestra sus experiencias vividas durante las etapas del proceso. La ansiedad, y el miedo fueron respuestas que emergieron de su descripción. Conociendo las respuestas ante situaciones estresantes de tipo cardiovascular y, considerando esta como tal, se pueden tener en cuenta en el contexto de los protocolos de atención a estos pacientes y no solo proporcionar la información técnica.

  Cardiovascular diseases, their treatments, hospital admissions and associated surgical processes can be the source of anxiety and fear in people who suffer from it. The heart is given a higher value because it is the motor that makes the body and the mind work. On the other hand, the information provided to the patient and his family is of technical nature about the procedure. But they are not informed about positive or negative emotional answers that may arise. Knowing these answers will be good in order both the patient and their family context can adapt the best possible to the new health situation of a cardiovascular disease. We present descriptive qualitative research, specifically, the biographical account of a person who has suffered a valve replacement due to an aortic stenosis. The story shows their experiences during the stages of the process. Anxiety and fear were the answersthat emerged from his description. Knowing the responses to stressful situations of cardiovascular type and considering this as such, can be taken into account in the context of the care protocols to these patients and not only provide technical information.
