El ἦϑος como vía de acceso a la φύσις La “revolución copernicana” de Platón

    El presente trabajo pretende mostrar en qué sentido la posición platónica en torno a la relación entre φύσις y ἦϑος, y la función que cumplen las ἰδέαι en ella, constituye una revolución del modo en que dicha relación se había concebido hasta ese momento. En las primeras tres secciones, se interpretan fragmentos de Heráclito y Parménides relativos al ἦϑος y a la justicia (δίκη), con auxilio de algunos textos poéticos. Con ello se esboza la comprensión arcaica de ἦϑος y φύσις, para la cual la justicia constituye un principio regulador de todo el κόσμος. En las dos secciones siguientes se exponen los rasgos con los que Platón caracteriza las ἰδέαι, con énfasis en la ἰδέα del Bien y en la importancia de la noción de δύναμις. Sobre esta base se presentará la fundación de la πόλις planteada en la República, a fin de observar el paso de la justicia cósmica a una visión según la cual constituye un principio propio de los seres que actúan por ἦϑος y como una medida que trasciende todo lo ser, ya que se trataría de una ἰδέα.

    This article intends to demonstrate the way Plato’s position regarding the relation between φύσις and ἦϑος, as well as the role of ἰδέαι in it, constitutes a revolution of the sense in which that relation had beed conceived until then. The first three sections present some passages of Heraclitus and Parmenides regarding ἦϑος and justice (δίκη), with the help of some poetic texts. This results in an outline of the archaic notion of ἦϑος and φύσις, according to which justice constitute an ordering of the κόσμος as a whole. The two following sections show the main characteristics of Plato’s ἰδέαι, emphasizing the ἰδέα of Good and the importance of the notion of δύναμις. From this standpoint the foundation of the πόλις proposed in the Republic is presented, in order to observe the passage from a cosmic justice to a notion that considers it as a guiding principle for beings that act according to their ἦϑος and as a measure that transcends all being, given that it is an ἰδέα.
