Representing convincingly the scientist, in his education or practise, seems to be difficult for the XlXth century novel. To understand this difficulty we will assume that the novel writer of last century, considering himself as producing science, can hardly conceive the activity of cognition which in a way would compete with himself; therefore the scientist figure is mediatised or deceptive.
