  Las actitudes hacia el entorno natural, la creación y las cuestiones familiares, rara bez se abordan conjuntamente en la reflexión teológica. La experiencia cotidiana asegura que las disposiciones positivas estables del comportamiento humano, es decir, las virtudes, constituyen un sistema unido y el desarrollo de una de ellas implica el crecimiento de todas los demás. La ecología humana llega a afirmaciones similares. Esta ultima ciencia relativamente reciente, estudia las relaciones de los seres humanos entre si y con el mundo materia en la unidad de sus múltiples interacciones. Los vacíos causados por el individualismo, el consumismo y la falta de sensibilidad por los valores simbólicos pueden ser sanados por las relaciones familiares ricas, amorosas y de apoyo. Basándonos en los textos de San Buenaventura de Bagnoregio, citados en la encíclica Laudato si? del Papa Francisco, se evidencia que las relaciones dinámicas entre las realidades materiales, el hombre y el creador, tienden hacia la realización. En el camino hacia esta plenitud, el hombre está investido tanto de una posibilidad particular de actuar como de una responsabilidad eminente.

  Issues concerning our attitude towards the created world and issues in the ethics of marriage are rarely treated of together in theological discourse. However, experience itself confirms that the virtues constitute a single, coherent, system, so that the cultivation of any of them favours the development of all the others. Interestingly, human ecology comes to similar conclusions. This relatively new field of study views humans' relating to one another and their relating to the material world as inseparable, as forming a whole by their multiple interactions. Deficiencies caused by individualism, consumerism, and insensibility to non-material values, can be healed by caring family relationships and solidarity. The encyclical Laudato si' quotes Saint Bonaventure to the effect that the relationships between material things, human persons, and the Creator, dynamically tend towards final completion. As they journey towards this fulfilment, humans are both endowed with special agency and bear a great responsibility.
