Resumen de La "Passio" di Felice, Ireneo e Mustiola: con edizione critica delle versioni BHL 4455-4456c

Pierluigi Licciardello

  • The "Passio" of Mustiola, a virgin and martyr in Chiusi, Tuscany (at the time of emperor Aurelian according to the tradition), has been transmitted in two versions: the first one (BHL 4455, 4455a, 4456) was composed in the time of Lombard king Liutprand (between 728 and 742), the second one (BHL 4456c) was written under pope Alexander II (1061-1073). The first version follows the usual model of the “epic” or legendary Passions of central Italy (Tuscany, Umbria and Sabina); the second one follows the same model enriched with some more modern and realistic details. The first version is attested in 20 manuscripts, the second one in two. A critical edition of the two versions is provided.
