El espacio público y su vínculo con el medio ambiente y el desarrollo sostenible

    Este artículo analiza la relación que existe entre el espacio público y el medio ambiente a partir del último tercio del siglo XX, en donde se comprueba la importancia y el surgimiento de una corriente ecologista, que incentivó metodologías y leyes que promovieron al hombre como protagonista de sus relaciones con el entorno físico y biológico en los sistemas urbanos; también se analiza cómo esta relación participa actualmente en la propuesta de Agenda 2030 sobre Desarrollo Sostenible que la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) busca implementar en el mundo a través de sus 17 objetivos. En el desarrollo del texto se enfatiza el vínculo que existe entre el espacio público, el medio ambiente y el desarrollo sostenible y los beneficios que este pueda generar para la sociedad y su entorno; finalmente, se describen y ejemplifican algunos casos análogos, destacando la búsqueda de un espacio público que se enlaza con el medio ambiente, participando con el desarrollo sostenible, el cual ofrece una mejor calidad de vida para la sociedad.

    This article analyzes the relationship that exist between public space and the environment from the last third of the 20th century, where the importance and emergence of an ecological trend is verified, which encouraged methodologies and laws that promoted man as the protagonist of its relationships with the physical and biological environment in urban systems; it also analyzes how this relationship currently participates in the proposal for the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development that the United Nations (UN) seeks to implement in the world through its 17 objectives. In the development of the text, the link between public space, the environment and sustainable development and the benefits that it can generate for society and its environment are emphasized; finally, some analogous cases are described and exemplified, highlighting the search for a public space that is linked to the environment, participating with sustainable development, which offers a better quality of life for society.
