Resumen de Consideraciones ético-legales en atención sanitaria a pacientes que rechazan recibir transfusiones de sangre

  Introducción: Aceptar que un paciente consciente y capaz, rechace recibir sangre o hemoderivados, entrañan un notable conflicto entre valores tan importantes como son la vida y la libertad. Desde la perspectiva ética, se debe contribuir, armonizar y ayudar a la resolución del conflicto ético-legal derivado de la negativa a recibir sangre. Comentario: Existen alternativas terapéuticas y otras consideraciones según sea la necesidad de transfusión urgente o electiva, así como la conducta legal ante un adulto capaz, no capaz, o un menor que deben tenerse en cuenta. Existe también el derecho a la objeción de conciencia del profesional sanitario. En Conclusión: las autoridades sanitarias deben poner en marcha recomendaciones y protocolos que ayudan a los profesionales, pacientes y gestores a atender estas situaciones complejas.

  Introduction: Accepting that a patient conscious and able, refuse to receive blood or blood products , involve a significant conflict as important as life and freedom values. From an ethical perspective, should contribute, harmonize and help resolve the ethical conflict-legal derived from the refusal to receive blood. Comment: Exist alternative therapies and other considerations as the need for urgent or elective transfusion and legal conduct in an adult capable and an adult not capable or a minor to be taken into account. There is also the right to conscientious objection of health professionals. In conclusion: health authorities should implement recommendations and protocols that help professionals, patients and managers to address these complex situations
