    En el contexto de su vocación global, India, la potencia ascendente, ha ido incrementando sus lazos con América Latina aunque con matices y diferencias palpables abriendo espacio a mayores facetas de poder duro, donde destacan Brasil, Chile y Argentina así como su presencia en Haití. Sobresale también la cautela para no incomodar a EEUU así como tampoco a China, Rusia o Irán, los otros actores extra-hemisféricos con presencia creciente en la región.

    In the context of India's growing global interests New Delhi has improved its presence in Latam countries opening bit by bit more space to hard power aspects and in that regard focusing specially on Brazil, Chile and Argentina. In the center of the India' s irruption in the Western Hemisphere is its contribution to MINUSTAH as well.

    Although policy-makers have emphasized the peaceful nature of India's growing influence in the multipolar world the Asian giant is looking cautiously after new possibilities and even strategic commonalities with Latam countries. New Delhi' s main purpose is to avoid skepticism among other extra-regional actors like China, Russia and Iran and not allow interference with the US- Latin America relationship framework.
