    El Carmelo Descalzo atrajo a muchas personas desde sus comienzos por su estilo de vida y espiritualidad. Para regular su entrada, los sucesivos textos legislativos de la orden fueron perfilando los requisitos y cualidades que debía tener el que quería tomar el hábito y profesar en alguno de los noviciados de la orden como el de los Santos Mártires de Granada. Por medio de los libros de hábito conservados, podemos hacernos una idea del tipo de novicios que entraron en el convento, alguno de los cuales no llegaban a profesar por no ser considerados idóneos por la comunidad religiosa.

    The Discalced Carmelites attracted many people from the beginning because of its way of life and spirituality. To regulate the way a new member could join the order, the successive legislative texts carefully defined the requirements and qualities that the ideal person who wanted to take the habit and profess in any of the noviciates of the order should have, like it was the case of the convent of the Holy Martyrs of Granada. Through the books focused on the process of the taking of the habit, we can have an idea about the kind of novices that joined the convent, although some people could not profess because they weren’t considered appropriate, according to the religious community.
