  • The article offers information on the Milwaukee's city-sponsored recreation program which established in 1911 for the purpose of benevolent social engineering. It highlights its goal towards the civic integration of burgeoning, and mostly poor, European immigrant populations and it also offers classes in English language and U.S. citizenship as well as arts and industrial crafts, sports, clubs, and other entertainment.
