    El calentamiento global está provocando que la extensión de hielo en las zonas polares sea menor año tras año, modificando las condiciones de vida a gran velocidad. Entre las consecuencias de estos cambios se encuentra la apertura de rutas marítimas hasta ahora bloqueadas por el hielo y el afloramiento de recursos vivos y minerales actualmente inaccesibles para el ser humano. Dichos acontecimientos han captado la atención no solo de los Estados ribereños del Ártico, sino también de China, lo que ha marcado el pistoletazo de salida a una carrera para ejercer su influencia en esta región, donde el control de las rutas marítimas y la explotación de los recursos existentes darán lugar a nuevas relaciones internacionales.

    Global warming and climate change are causing a progressive reduction in the ice extension, altering life conditions at high speed in the Arctic region. Among the consequences of these changes are the appearance of shipping routes due to the melting ice, the emergence of fisheries and mineral resources banned to human access so far. This has captured the attention of the Arctic and near Arctic states and has kicked off a race to extent their influence in this region, where control of sea routes and exploitation of existing resources will lead to new international relations among actors.
