    La Opinión Consultiva OC-25/18 de 30 de mayo de 2018 de la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos sobre la institución de asilo diplomático en el sistema interamericano, representa un momento de particular importancia para la comprensión y aplicación de esta institución en el continente americano. La Corte en sus conclusiones reafirma una visión que refleja la decadencia en importancia de esta institución en el continente americano más allá del ámbito convencional, y consagra otras obligaciones de los Estados en materia de derechos humanos para situaciones de protección humanitaria en legaciones, en caso que no aplique el asilo diplomático. Ello supone para los Estados reconocer obligaciones para la protección de los derechos humanos en el continente con importantes repercusiones para este tipo de situaciones que encontraban en el asilo diplomático la institución de protección humanitaria por excelencia

    Advisory Opinion OC-25/18 of May 30, 2018 of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights on the institution of diplomatic asylum in the inter-American system, represents a moment of particular importance for the understanding and application of this institution in the American continent. The Court in its conclusions reaffirms a vision that reflects the decline in importance of this institution in the American continent beyond the conventional sphere, and enshrines other obligations of the States in the matter of human rights for situations of humanitarian protection in legations, in case do not apply diplomatic asylum, which means for States to recognize obligations for the protection of human rights in the continent with important repercussions for this type of situation that found in the diplomatic asylum the institution of humanitarian protection par excellence.
