Las diferentes teorías vigentes que rigen la práctica terminológica son el producto de un devenir, el cual hemos considerado necesario indagar para poder describirlo y así conocer su origen y evolución. Como en cualquier otra actividad humana que evoluciona, van surgiendo diferentes prismas, y por ende, criterios, para abordar su visión y su práctica, de ahí las diferentes escuelas y movimientos que también se describen en este trabajo. Es por ello que en este estudio, revisaremos sus inicios, sus fundamentos y su gesta. Asimismo, hemos considerado imprescindible incluir las diferentes disciplinas con las que la terminología converge de forma transversal y describir cuáles son esos puntos de contacto.

The different current theories regulating the terminological practice stem from an evolution, which we considered necessary to enquire into this study in order to describe it, and thusget to know its origins and development. As in any other evolving human activity, distinctive perspectives arise and, consequently, different criteria for addressing its vision and practice. Therefore, the emerging of different schools and movements are also included in this work. For these reasons, we will review the origins, the fundamental tenets and milestones of terminology. Additionally, we consider it essential to cover the intersection of terminology with the disciplines it converges on a cross-cutting basis in order to describe this behavior.
