Resumen de Ciencia y Metafísica en El problema del Genio de Macedonio Fernández: un intersticio en la polaridad Espiritualismo/Positivismo de la Argentina de entre siglos

El presente artículo se centra en el escrito El problema del genio, del filósofo e intelectual argentino Macedonio Fernández, publicado en 1902 en la revista Archivos, icónica del positivismo de la época. Se realiza un análisis minucioso del texto mencionado, con el objetivo de dar cuenta de tres entrecruzamientos fundamentales que lo atraviesan, a saber, la teoría de la Humorística conceptualizada por el propio Macedonio Fernández, la influencia del filósofo alemán Arthur Schopenhauer en ella y el sincretismo macedoniano entre ciencia y metafísica tal como éste lo desarrolla en su Eudeomonología. La hipótesis de este artículo afirma que si bien El problema del Genio tensiona con el positivismo de Archivos, al mismo tiempo constituye una posición significativa por su singularidad, por cuanto procura cohesionar aportes tanto del espiritualismo como del positivismo, constituyéndose así en una mirada novedosa en el marco de los debates filosóficos de la Argentina de entre siglos.

This article focuses on the writing of philosopher and intellectual Macedonio Fernández, entitled El problema del genio, published in 1902 in Archivos, an iconic magazine of the positivism of the time. Its aim is to thoroughly analyze the above mentioned text, trying to bring to light three fundamental intertwined topics that appear through it, namely: the theory of the humorous, conceptualized by Macedonio itself; the influence of german philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer on it, and the syncretism between science and metaphysics in Macedonio’s Eudemonología. The hypothesis of this article establishes that, although El problema del genio is at odds with the positivism of Archivos, at the same time it represents a meaningful position because of its singularity, in as much it tries to bring together contributions both from spiritualism and positivism, constituting therefore an original point of view in the context of philosophical debates at the turn of the century in Argentina.
