  • Between the end of the Sixteenth century and the first half of the Seventeenth century the intense building activity that affected the Maltese archipelago favoured the diffusion of the innovations introduced in the projects for Valletta. The con-struction of new parish churches offered numerous opportunities for the experimentation of Renaissance architectural language, through the use of new decorative repertoires and the models offered by Italian treatises.
