    Me parece que el problema fundamental de la construcción de iglesias no es tanto el cumplimiento de la liturgia, que debe darse por supuesto, sino la capacidad de evocación del misterio: la convicción de que en esos edificios particulares —que por eso se hacen sagrados— habita Dios, habita físicamente Dios. Y esa certeza ha de conducir a trabajar de una manera especialmente cuidadosa. Yo creo que cuando uno recibe a alguien en su casa, y se trata de alguien a quien se valora, alguien importante, uno la limpia todo lo que puede, hace los arreglos que tal vez lleve tiempo sin hacer. Creo que con esa actitud de una cierta humildad, si queréis, que también reclama la excelencia —lo veíamos en ejemplos que han salido estos días, incluso esta misma mañana—, es con la que ha de plantearse el futuro, que es la última parte del título de la mesa redonda.

    It seems to me that the fundamental problem of church building is not so much the fulfillment of the liturgy, which must be taken for granted, but the ability to evoke the mystery: the conviction that in those particular buildings -which are why they are sacred- God dwells, physically dwells God. And that certainty must lead to work in a particularly careful way. I believe that when you receive someone in your house, and it is someone who is valued, someone important, you clean everything you can, make the arrangements that may take time without doing. I think that with that attitude of a certain humility, if you want, that also claims excellence-we saw in examples that have come out these days, even this morning, is with which to consider the future, which is the last part of the title of the round table.
