Since 1994, the University of British Columbia has vigorously pursued the goal of ‘networking the campus’, while simultaneously developing educational applications to meet the changing demands of students, the provincial government and the greater community. To these ends, considerable resources have been directed towards educational technology projects over the past three years. This article will describe the types of activities and projects that have been implemented, analyse the kinds of impacts they have had on UBC faculty, staff and students, and identify lessons learned during this process.
