Until recently, most of the major developments and applications of electronic performance support systems (EPSS) have taken place within industrial and commercial settings. In general, academic organizations have been slow to take advantage of this relatively new approach to the instructional use of computers. However, this situation is changing rapidly. This paper therefore discusses some of the ways in which electronic performance support is now influencing learning strategies within academic settings at the elementary and secondary levels.
