Identidades alteradas en las historias de heródoto: identidad y alteridad en el logos lidio

    En su investigación histórica, Heródoto presenta las Guerras Médicas como una lucha en torno a las identidades político-culturales y utiliza el concepto de “otredad” como categoría explicativa que le permite no sólo describir a los otros, sino, sobre todo, interpretar, problematizar, proponer nuevas maneras de pensar la identidad griega. De la compleja organización formal de las Historias emerge una reinterpretación cultural que interpela implícitamente a sus destinatarios y en la cual desempeña un papel fundamental el esquema bipolar griego-bárbaro. En este marco y a causa de su identificación con la alteridad en la cultura helénica clásica, la representación de figuras tiránicas en las Historias resulta un aspecto imprescindible del programa herodóteo que permite estudiar su configuración de la “realidad” griega y acercarse a los modos de construcción de la identidad.

    In his historical research, Herodotus shows the Persian War as a fight on cultural and political identities and he uses the concept of « otherness » as an explanatory category that allows him not just to describe others, but also, and above all, to interpret, problematize, propose new ways of thinking the greek identity. From the complex formal organization of the Histories emerge a cultural reinterpretation which implicitly interpellate its recipients and whithin which the bipolar scheme greek-barbarian plays a fundamental role. In this context and because of its identification with alterity in the classical hellenic culture, the representation of tyrannical figures in the Histories turns out to be an essential aspect of the herodotean project that allows to study its configuration of greek « reality » and to approach the ways of identity construction.
