    El presente texto presenta relatos sobre la historia del Cacique Guairá y del Cacique Paragua que se encuentran en tres pueblos Guaraní que habitan la Región Oriental del Paraguay: los Ava, los Mbya y los Pai Tavyterã. A través del análisis de los mismo y del contexto histórico que los produjo se concluye presentando las principales características de estos relatos. Esto es: relatos en los que se enlaza la historia del Cacique Guairá y del Cacique Paragua con una antropología mítica, relatos en los que se menciona al Cacique Guairá o al Cacique Paragua como protagonistas de la historia y se menciona además hechos históricos en los que se sitúa a estos personajes como protagonistas de los mismo, relatos que sirven para demarcar las fronteras identitarias entre el propio grupo y otros grupos, ya sean otros Guaraní o los no indígenas y relatos que sirven para legitimar la posesión de las tierras por parte del grupo.

    This text presents the story of two caciques: Guairá and Paragua, that is found in three guaraní peoples that inhabit the Eastern Region of Paraguay: the Ava, the Mbya and the Pai Tavyterã. Through the analysis of these stories and the historical context that produced them, it is concluded by presenting the main characteristics of these stories; stories in which the story of two caciques is linked to a mythical anthropogony, stories in which Cacique Guairá or Cacique Paragua are mentioned as protagonists of the story and also linked with historical facts and other stories in which these characters are placed as protagonists of the same stories that serve to demarcate the identity boundaries existing between the group itself and other groups. The last kind of story that we have found serve to legitimize the possession of land by the group.
