    Desde que el geógrafo árabe Al-Himyari mencionó el acueducto de Huelva a fines de la Edad Media, no han faltado autores que hayan tratado sobre él a lo largo de los últimos siglos. Rodrigo Caro, a principios del siglo XVII, fue el primer historiador moderno que aludió a él, pero fue el debate ilustrado sobre la identificación de la Onoba romana con la villa de Huelva el que puso de actualidad el acueducto en el mundo intelectual. Desde entonces, los diccionarios histórico- geográficos, los eruditos del positivismo y los periodistas de los siglos XIX y XX no han dejado de discutir acerca de su estructura y origen. Este capítulo hace un estudio de la presencia de acueducto de Huelva en dichas obras.

    Since the Arab geographer Al-Himyari mentioned the aqueduct of Huelva at the end of the Middle Ages, there have been many authors who have dealt with it along the past centuries Rodrigo Caro, at the beginning of the 17th Century, was the first modern historian to allude to it but it was the enlightened debate about the identification of the Roman Onoba with the town of Huelva that brought the aqueduct into the intellectual world. Since then, the historical-geographical dictionaries, the positivist scholars and the journalists of the 19th and 20th Centuries have not stopped discussing their structure and origin. This chapter makes a study about the presence of the aqueduct of Huelva in these works.
