    El presente trabajo es un estudio de lo risible en El burgués gentilhombre, haciendo un decidido uso de la teoría poética y retórica clásica que se enseñaba en la época; prestando especial atención a los recursos procedentes del grupo de los llamados apò tês léxeõs —hoy denominado ‘Humor Verbal’—, usados por el artifex para suscitar la risa en el espectador con el propósito de corregir, divirtiendo, la extravagancia presuntuosa en la manera de ser, de hablar, de actuar e, incluso, de escribir de algunas personas que, abandonando a propósito la sencillez y naturalidad que le son propias por naturaleza, asumen otras conductas y estilos de vida con el único propósito de aparentar lo que no son.

    A study of what is comical in El Burgués gentilhombre, elaborated using the theory on Poetry and Classical Rhetoric that was taught at the time, paying special attention to the resources that are part of the group called apò tês léxeõs —today called ‘verbal humor’—, used by the artifex to make the audience laugh with the purpose of correcting, entertaining, with the presumptuous extravagance in the way of being, acting, and even writing in people who, abandoning on purpose their natural and simple manners, assume a different behavior and lifestyle with the sole purpose of pretending to be something they are not.
