Las bases de la política estatal de la Federación Rusa en el terreno de la disuasión nuclear, promulgadas por el presidente Putin el 2 de junio de 2020, no contienen ninguna novedad destacable y se limitan a detallar algunas disposiciones de la Doctrina Militar y otros documentos públicos de planeamiento estratégico. El que por primera vez se hagan públicas está, probablemente, relacionado con la expiración, en 2021, del Tratado START. El nuevo panorama estratégico estará condicionado por el ascenso de China y por la ausencia de unas reglas del juego explícitamente pactadas entre las grandes potencias.

The Bases of State Policy of the Russian Federation in the Field of Nuclear Deterrence, promulgated by President Putin on 2 June 2020, do not contain anything particularly new and are limited to detailing some provisions of the Military Doctrine and other public documents of strategic planning. The fact that the Bases are made public for the first time is probably related to the expiration of the START Treaty in 2021. The new strategic landscape will be conditioned by the rise of China and by the absence of explicitly agreed rules governing the nuclear competition between the great powers.
