Don Quixote, producción de la Royal Shakespeare Company estrenada en 2016 en Stratford-upon-Avon, será estudiada en este trabajo atendiendo a distintos elementos del texto teatral y el espectáculo. Se tendrá en cuenta su carácter musical (con especial atención en las letras de algunas canciones insertadas) y se profundizará en tres personajes (Don Quijote, Sancho y el Castrador de puercos) y sus conexiones con la cultura, literatura y sociedad inglesas como muestra del trasvase del personaje cervantino a otros ámbitos genéricos y culturales. Además, se reflexionarásobre la imagen que se desprende de lo hispánico desde el punto de vista de la reconocida compañía inglesa.

Don Quixote, a Royal Shakespeare Company production premiered in 2016 in Stratford-upon-Avon, will be studied in this paper focussing on different elements of the theatricaltext and the show. While taking into account its musical components with special attention to the lyrics of some inserted songs, three characters (Don Quixote, Sancho and the Sowgelder) and their connections with English culture, literature and society will be explored in depth as an example of Cervantesʼcharacters transfer to other generic and cultural spheres. Furthermore, it will be reflected upon the image that emerges from the Spanishness from the point of view of the renowned English company.
