Veinte años después, las miles de mujeres bosnias violadas durante la guerra de los Balcanes siguen esperando justicia. Reconocidas como víctimas civiles del conflicto, y responsables de que la justicia internacional reconozca hoy la violación como crimen contra la humanidad, siguen esperando que sus agresores cumplan condena, y que el país y la sociedad les devuelva la dignidad. Apenas unas 700 de las más de 20.000 mujeres violadas recibe una ayuda económica, y el 90% de ellas no tiene acceso a una terapia sanitaria adecuada. Sus hijos, muchos nacidos como fruto de la violación son doblemente víctimas, las de unas políticas sociales que les desfavorecen, y las del estigma social que les condena. Sin la reparación económica y moral hacia estas víctimas, la sociedad bosnia no será capaz de comprender la verdadera dimensión de la guerra que ha sufrido, ni podrá cerrar definitivamente sus heridas.

Twenty years after the war in the Balkans, thousands of Bosnian women raped during the conflict are still waiting for justice. They are recognized as civilian victims of the conflict, and they are responsible for the international justice recognizes rape as a crime against humanity, but even that they are still waiting to meet their aggressors sentences and that society restore their dignity. Just 700 of more than 20,000 raped women receives financial aid, and 90% of them do not have access to adequate health therapy. Their children, many born as a result of the rape are doubly victims, of social policies that forget them, and the social stigma that condemns them. Without the economic and moral reparations to these victims, Bosnian society will not be able to understand the true dimension of the war, and may not be able to permanently close its wounds.
