Resumen de Nous parlants: llengua i subjectivitat

This article postulates the relevance and productivity of research on “new speakers” in socio-linguistics. To this end, we discuss the historical relationships of sociolinguistics with other social sciences in terms of an ongoing adoption of concepts and methods from other disci-plines. Accordingly, the concept of new speakers brings up the debates about subjectivity raised by the works of Foucault, Butler, Bhabha and other authors. We exemplify our reason-ing with a reflection on how the various relationships with different languages of several pro-files of speakers can help to shed light on the Catalan sociolinguistic situation and on how it is experienced. We finally argue that attention to subjectivity can help to connect sociolinguis-tics with the fields of research and with the contemporary social movements that have contributed most to the debate, and to develop the concept of subjectivity: feminism, anti-racism, the LGBT movement, and ecologism.

Aquest article defensa la pertinència i la productivitat de fer recerca sobre el tema dels «nous parlants» en sociolingüística. Amb aquest objectiu, es ressegueix històricament la relació de la sociolingüística amb altres ciències socials en termes d’una importació contínua de conceptes i mètodes de disciplines diferents. Des d’aquest punt de vista, el tema dels nous parlants en-tronca amb els debats sobre subjectivitat suscitats pels treballs de Foucault, Butler, Bhabha i altres autors. S’exemplifica l’argument amb una reflexió sobre com la relació de diversos per-fils de parlants amb les llengües pot ajudar a entendre la situació sociolingüística catalana i com la viuen les persones. S’argumenta, finalment, que aquesta atenció a la subjectivitat pot ajudar a connectar la sociolingüística amb els camps de recerca i els moviments socials con-temporanis que més han contribuït a debatre i desenvolupar el concepte de subjectivitat: el feminisme, l’antiracisme, el moviment LGTBI o l’ecologisme.
